PHNOM PENH, March 29 (Xinhua) -- A French navy ship Vend miaire arrived at Cambodia's Sihanoukville Autonomous Port on Thursday for a five-day goodwill visit to strengthen the bilateral military ties, according to a press release from the French Embassy here.
During the stay, the ship's commander will meet with Cambodia's Naval Commander to Preah Sihanouk Province and Governor of Preah Sihanouk province, it said.
"The visit aims at strengthening military cooperation between French and Cambodian Navies," said the statement.
The frigate will be open to the public during the stay.
The Vendmiaire, a light monitoring frigate or warship of the French Marine National, was officially commissioned in 1993 and immediately deployed to the Pacific Ocean. It carries missiles, guns, a turret and a helicopter.
The frigate arrived here from Vietnam and will leave Cambodia for Thailand on April 2.
