One dead, 5 injured in armed robbery in Philippine capital region

MANILA, March 29 (Xinhua) -- One person died and five others were injured in grenade attack and armed robbery at a shopping mall in metro Manila on Thursday, local media reported.

Two riding-in-tandem robbers entered Robinsons Galleria Mall's first level in Ortigas from the parking lot, and then held up the security bank guards who were allegedly delivering money.

They shot the guards and hurled two grenades before they fled on a motorcycle. One of the guards died later.

Police authorities responded to the alarm. At least two mall employees, two bystanders were also injured after the suspects threw a grenade inside the mall.

It is not clear whether the robbers managed to take the money away.
