At least 12 killed in Mali mutiny

BAMAKO, March 23 (Xinhua) -- At least 12 people died in Mali's mutiny, police and hospital sources reported on Friday.

The shootout between mutineers and the presidential guard on Wednesday night killed at least 12 people on both sides, a police officer declined to be named told Xinhua.

"We could say 12 military personnel died on both sides," he said.

A source of the presidential guard said they lost three soldiers.
