Fire destroys 95 houses in C. Philippines

MANILA, March 9 (Xinhua) -- A great fire broke out Friday morning has injured 3 people and destroyed 95 houses at a residential area in Suba village in central Philippines' Cebu province, local media reported.

The fire broke out at 7:16 a.m. ans spread fast as the houses were mostly made of light materials, before it was put under control an hour later. Fire officials estimated the damage to property at 1.1 million pesos (25,820 U.S. dollars).

A witness said the fire was caused by an unattended gas lamp.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.

The fire was the fourth one that hit Cebu this month, the Fire Prevention Month.
