MANILA, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Former Philippine president and incumbent congresswoman Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo pleaded on Thursday "not guilty" on her election sabotage case.

Arroyo's arraignment before the Pasay City Regional Trial Court Branch 112 lasted for only about 10 minutes. Arroyo personally entered the not guilty plea during the arraignment.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel heavily secured Arroyo, who was on her neck brace, when she was transported from Veterans' Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City via a coaster in going to the Pasay court.

She was accompanied by her husband, Jose Miguel Arroyo, son Diosdado Arroyo, her lawyers and other supporters.

The Commission on Elections filed election sabotage case against Arroyo for her alleged involvement in the massive cheating in the 2007 senatorial elections, particularly in southern Maguindanao province.
