ANKARA, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Turkey plans to convene an international conference with the participation regional players and world powers to solve the Syrian crisis, Turkish foreign minister said Wednesday.

"Countries which are concerned with the situation in Syria have to find a solution. We are determined to establish a broad-based forum," Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said in a televised interview.

Turkey expects the international conference to take place as soon as possible with a "broad participation" of the international actors, said the minister, adding that the conference could take place in Turkey or another country in the region.

Davutoglu said Turkey would have a series of diplomatic contacts with leaders of countries such as Qatar and Russia to try to create a "new roadmap" for Syria.

The minister said Turkey's attempt came after a United Nations Security Council resolution draft on Syria was vetoed.

"We can't leave Syria on its own destiny," he added.

Davutoglu will fly to the United States on Wednesday and meet with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for further discussions on the Syrian crisis.

"We work on a model that includes members of Organization of Islamic Countries, Arab countries, members of UN Security Council and relevant parties," he stated.
