WASHINGTON, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Republican Party of Western U.S. state Nevada on Sunday is still counting ballots cast a day ago in the state's caucuses, which, according to projections, won convincingly by former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.

"We are going to get this right," Clark County Chairman David Gibbs was quoted by the Las Vegas Sun Sunday. "If it takes us a little bit of time to get it rights, we are going to take the time. " Clark County is the largest and has most people in the state.

According to local press reports, after working until 4 a.m. Sunday, a handful of volunteers resumed working through boxes of paper ballots Sunday morning, verifying the vote count done at each precinct.

With about 71 percent of the vote counted as of noon, local time, Romney leads with about 48 percent, and former House speaker Newt Gingrich was in second place, with U.S. Rep. Ron Paul trailing in third.

County party officials were unwilling to release the numbers from the precinct counts until each ballot was certified. And they are doing it all by hand.
