Two foreigners kidnapped in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Some unidentified militants kidnapped a German and an Italian national from central Pakistani city of Multan on Thursday night, reported local media Urdu TV Geo.

According to the report, the unknown gunmen abducted the foreigners from Qasim Bala area of Multan at about 8:00 p.m. local time.

The police told media that both of them were employees of a non- governmental organization working for the relief and rehabilitation of flood effected people in eastern Province of Punjab.

Police carried out search operation in the area for the recovery of the kidnapped foreigners but it could not get any clue so far.

No group claimed responsibility so far.

The police believe that the kidnapping of the German and Italian national seems to be an act of kidnapping for ransom and the militants may come up with a demand for ransom after a few days.
