23-year old kidnapped victim rescued in S. Philippines

MANILA, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- A 23-year old kidnapped victim was rescued Wednesday night in southern Philippine province of Maguindanao, police said.

Romy Cabaya, nephew of Mayor Lorito Cabaya of Aleosan Cotabato, was rescued by members of Aleosan police and the 40th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army in Dalican village, Datu Odin Sinsuat town around 11:15 p.m. local time, said Philippine National Police Spokesman Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr.

Renegade members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front allegedly abducted Romy after they mistook him for the mayor's son Jason last November.
