ANKARA, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu phoned Turkish Ambassador to Iraq Yunus Demirer following a rocket-propelled hand grenade attack on the Turkish embassy Wednesday, semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.

The attack targeting the Turkish embassy in Baghdad occurred at about 13:10 local time (0910 GMT), Anatolia quoted diplomatic sources as saying, adding no casualties from the Turkish embassy were reported.

Meanwhile, Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan, who is visiting Iraq, said Wednesday the rocket hitting the embassy was from a vehicle explosion that sent several rockets in different directions without control.

The Iraqi authorities have begun an investigation into the incident, Caglayan said.
