WARSAW, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Polish and Latvian foreign ministers discussed energy security, the NATO summit in Chicago in May and the EU budget for 2014-2020 here on Wednesday.
"We have common views on the North Atlantic Alliance, its role in our region, on the evolution of the EU and on current issues on the European agenda," Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski told a press conference.
During the meeting, the ministers also discussed issues relating to energy security, as Sikorski spoke of intersystem connections which could integrate the Baltic States with the remaining part of the EU in terms of electricity and gas.
Sikorski welcomed the upcoming visit of Latvian President Andris Berzins. "I think that these intensive contacts will allow us to even better cooperate in Atlantic and European institutions," the Polish minister said.
It was the first visit to Poland by Edgars Rinkevics since his appointment in October 2011.
