CAIRO, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Clashes erupted Wednesday when armed Bedouins attacked a military vehicle in Suez governorate east of Cairo, leaving three people dead.

A military source in Suez told Xinhua that the armed forces received complaints from people in Shalofah district near the southern part of the Suez Canal that a group of Bedouin thugs cut the road linking Suez and Ismailia and was robbing citizens. They decided to go and check it.

When they arrived there, the thugs entrapped their car and started to shoot, killing an officer and his driver, he said.

A Bedouin was also killed and his cousin was seriously injured, according to the source.
