LONDON, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- The body found in the Sandringham Estate of the Queen was identified as a 17-year-old girl Alisa Dmitrijeva, detectives said on Sunday.

Local detectives made the judgment by comparing her palm with records and making DNA test from the thigh bones.

Dmitrijeva's family was notified and was described as "devastated" by a report from the BBC.

The teenage girl was born in Latvia and had been living in Cambridgeshire. She was last seen on Aug. 31.

Detectives have offered 5,000 pounds (7,713 U.S. dollars) for information of Dmitrijeva's whereabouts after she went missing. Lithuanian and Latvian versions of the advertisement were posted on Facebook as well.

The body was discovered on Jan. 1 by a dog walker at a site where the royal family had regular pheasant and partridge shoots.

Police have almost ruled out possibilities of natural death and accidental injuries.
