Jordan's GDP grows by 2.6 pct in third quarter of 2011

AMMAN, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- Jordan's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 2.6 percent in the third quarter of this year, according to official figures.

The GDP grew by 2.4 percent during the first three quarters of 2011 compared to the same period in 2010, the figures from the Department of Statistics showed.

In the first three quarters of this year, highest growth of 13. 4 percent was recorded in extractive industries sector, followed by the agricultural and hunting sector with 5.4 percent. Public services sector grew by 3.7 percent and the transport and telecom sector grew by 3.4 percent, the figures obtained by Xinhua indicated.

Jordan's GDP is expected to grow by 3.3 percent during 2011, according to the International Monetary Fund.
