AMMAN, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Jordanian police arrested several Syrians on Tuesday after clashes near the Syrian embassy in Amman, witnesses said.

Clashes erupted when dozens of Syrian protestors who gathered in front of the Syrian embassy in Amman, chanting slogans against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, provoked loyalists to the Syrian regime, according to witnesses.

People involved in the clashes were referred to the police station in the area as the security forces intervened to prevent the escalation of the clashes.
