KIEV, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine is satisfied with the results of the recent 15th Ukraine-European Union (EU) summit, though the signing of the Association Agreement was delayed, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said here on Monday.

"Our negotiating teams reached an understanding with respect to the full text of the Association Agreement. I want to confirm the intention of both parties to accelerate the process of preparing the text of the Agreement for initialing," Yanukovych said during joint press-conference with EU officials.

He thanked the President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy and the European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso for participation in the forum.

Yanukovych added that Ukraine will continue the systematical internal transformation to become closer to Europe.

An Association Agreement between Kiev and Brussels that includes arrangements for a deep free-trade area and a roadmap for abolishing the visa regime for Ukrainian citizens has been completed on Monday.
