No threat from suspicious packages found at Credit Suisse in NYC

09:21, December 15, 2011

NEW YORK, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- New York City Police said on Wednesday that no threat was found from suspicious packages that arrived in the mail at the Credit Suisse headquarters in New York City.

After carefully probing the package, NYPD spokesman confirmed that the package is a legitimate shipment, adding that it looked like the package contained camera equipment.

The company said in a statement that it alerted police to "two suspicious packages which had been received in our mailroom at One Madison Avenue."

"Upon the advice of the NYPD Emergency Services Unit we have evacuated all staff from that building," the statement said.

The incident came a week after an envelope containing explosives was sent to the head of Deutsche Bank, Josef Ackermann, in Frankfurt of Germany.
