7.3-magnitude quake hits E. New Guinea region, Papua New Guinea -- USGS

WASHINGTON, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale jolted eastern New Guinea region, Papua New Guinea, at 0504 GMT Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 127 km, was initially determined to be at 7.5290 degrees south latitude and 146.7790 degrees east longitude.
