ABIDJAN, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda's Defense Minister James Kabarebe, who has been visiting Cote d'Ivoire since last Sunday, is to share with the country's authorities about issues of post- crisis reconstruction, an official source told Xinhua.

The Cote d'Ivoire government wants to learn from Rwandese model especially in the areas of reconstruction of a unified army, provision of security, national reconciliation as well as the process of disarmament, demobilization and reinsertion of ex- fighters.

During his visit which will last for four days, Kabarebe is expected to hold talks with several Cote d'Ivoire leaders, who include Prime Minister Guillaume Soro and the president of the Dialogue, Truth and Reconciliation Commission (CDVR) Charles Konan Banny.

The visit to Cote d'Ivoire by the Rwandese defense minister came after the Nov.7 visit to Rwanda by Cote d'Ivoire's prime minister under the auspices of the United Nations post-conflict conference on consolidation of peace.

During his visit, Soro was surprised to see that Rwanda was back on track after going through the tragic 1994 genocide.

The Cote d'Ivoire premier then expressed the desire to broaden the cooperation between Rwanda and Cote d'Ivoire, two countries which recently went through a conflict period.

Rwanda began its economic reconstruction after going through a serious socio-political crisis that resulted into the genocide which is estimated to have left 800,000 people dead, and Cote d'Ivoire is trying to restore normality after having witnessed a serious post-election crisis that left 3,000 people dead and a million others displaced.
