Indonesia gears up for World Anticorruption Day

20:48, December 05, 2011

JAKARTA, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said on Monday that the World Anticorruption Day, scheduled for Dec. 9, would not be just a commemoration and the government would evaluate its efforts in eradicating corruption in the country, local media reported.

"As you all know, it will not just be a commemoration event but will be about what we have done up to this day in our efforts to prevent and eradicate corruption,"the president was quoted by the saying.

On World Anti-corruption Day, the cabinet would evaluate their anti-corruption work, looking at the things they have achieved and what they would need to work on in the future, said the president.

The commemoration activities will be held in Semarang, Central Java, where he felt would be conducive to the day's agenda, he added.

"I want us to have a hard and sharp discussion and reflect on our situation, which will help us determine our moves (against corruption) for the future," he said.
