Syria proposes minor amendments to AL observers' mission: official

19:11, December 05, 2011

DAMASCUS, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- A Syrian Foreign Ministry spokesman announced Monday that Damascus on late Sunday sent the Arab League (AL) a message containing minor amendments to the Arab observers' mission protocol.

Jihad Makdessi told reporters at a press conference that Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem sent the AL chief Nabil al-Arabi the message with amendments to the protocol that would not harm the plan's essence.

Damascus is still waiting AL's answers, Makdessi said.

He said Damascus has "responded positively" to the AL's plan on sending observers to monitor the country's unrest.
