DHAKA, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- In a major cabinet reshuffle, the Bangladeshi government Monday made changes to the portfolios of four ministers while distributed portfolios to two newly appointed full ministers, an official said.

The Cabinet Division official who preferred to be unnamed said Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain got the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology while Obaidul Quader, who took oath as minister last week, will replace him at the Ministry of Communications.

The official said Suranjit Sengupta, who also became a full minister last week, has been given the charge of newly established Ministry of Railways which was previously a division of communications ministry.

G M Quader became the new commerce minister while his Civil Aviation Ministry went to Commerce Minister Faruk Khan, and State Minister Yeafesh Osman was given the charge in the newly-carved Science and Technology Ministry, he added.

The official confirmed that the Cabinet Division Monday morning issued separate gazette notifications in this regard just a day after the government created two new ministries.

He said the changes are aimed at infusing more dynamism into Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's incumbent about a three-year old government which faces difficulties of maintaining macroeconomic stability in context of various odds at home and abroad.
