KHARTOUM, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Sudanese Army on Thursday controlled Turouji area south of Kadogli, capital of the South Kordfoan State which is witnessing armed clashes between Sudanese army and fighters of Sudan People's Liberation Army's (SPLA) northern sector, official SUNA news agency reported.

"The Sudanese army took over Turouji area, south of Kadogli, capital of South Kordofan," SUNA quoted Sudanese Minister of Information and government spokesman Kamal Obaid as saying.

The Sudanese army, meanwhile, accused the South Sudan army of surpassing the border between the two countries and entering around nine kilometers inside the Sudanese territories at White Nile area.

SUNA quoted the Sudanese army as saying in a statement that " the SPLA in South Sudan entered east of Tiboun area in the White Nile State with the aim of looting the citizens, which forced our armed forces to deal with them and force them to flee, thus leaving behind a number of their dead members and arms. One member of the attacking force was arrested and is now being questioned."

The South Kordofan State has been witnessing armed clashes since June 5 between the Sudanese army and SPLA fighters.

Khartoum accuses South Sudan of supporting the rebels who are clashing with the Sudanese army at South Kordofan and Blue Niles area.
