Jordan's budget deficit narrows by 39% in first ten months

AMMAN, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Jordan's budget deficit during the first ten months this year dropped by 39 percent compared to the same period in 2010, the figures from finance ministry showed on Wednesday.

The budget deficit totaled about 598.9 million U.S. dollars during the January-October period, with foreign aid taken into account, compared to 987.9 million dollars during the same period last year, according to the official figures.

The country's budget deficit before foreign aid reached 2.120 billion dollars during the first ten months, the figures showed.

Jordan's domestic revenues in the first ten months amounted to about 6.617 billion dollars, compared to 5.318 billion dollars in the same period of 2010, the figures indicated.

Jordan's overall public debt stood at about 17.785 billion dollars by the end of October, compared to 16.133 billion dollars by the end of last year.
