Jordan's king says failure to reach Mideast peace threatens int'l stability

15:58, November 30, 2011

AMMAN, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan said Tuesday that the failure to realize peace in the Middle East will threaten the international stability and security.

The Jordanian leader made his remarks in a letter sent to the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, in which he stressed the "utmost necessity" of peace at this stage in the Middle East.

The Middle East is going through unprecedented changes, and the failure to reach peace will push the region for the unknown, the king said.

The Arabs want a comprehensive and lasting peace that leads to the creation of an independent Palestinian state existing along with Israel in peace and security, he said.

The king called for a genuine partnership to enable the Palestinians and Israel to resume the peace talks.
