TUNIS, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Tunisia will extend the state of emergency until the end of December of 2011, the state-run TAP news agency reported Tuesday.

The state of emergency, supposed to end on Dec. 1, was extended by another month, after the country's interim President Fouad Mebazaa signed the extension decree on Monday, the TAP report said.

The state of emergency in Tunisia has been in force since former president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali fled the country on Jan. 14 this year after days of nationwide protests.
