Beijing, Nov. 29 (People's Daily Online) -- An Apple iPhone 4 suddenly became red hot and spontaneously combusted on an Australian commercial aircraft after landing last Friday.

The airline, Regional Express, said in a statement that the incident took place on a domestic service flying to Sydney.

"In accordance with company standard safety procedures, the flight attendant carried out recovery actions immediately and the red glow was extinguished successfully," the carrier said, adding that all passengers and crew on board were unharmed.

The airline also said the occurrence had been reported to Australian aviation safety watchdog for further investigation and directions.
