KINSHASA, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Police dispersed crowd with tear gas at a polling station in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo), which opened its second post-war presidential elections on Monday.

As Xinhua reporter saw at the scene the president of the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS), Etienne Tshisekedi, one of the major presidential candidates, left for voting at 4:40 p.m. local time, just 20 minutes before the end of the polling.

A large crowd of people gathered around him while police had to use tear gas to keep order. No injuries were reported at the polling station, although there were allegations of casualties elsewhere across the Central African country.

The polls were scheduled to end at 5:00 p.m. local time. Kinshasa witnessed a relatively calm day.
