HELSINKI, Nov.28 (Xinhua) -- Despite the uncertain economic climate, a majority of Finnish consumers will spend almost as much on Christmas purchases this year as last one, according to a survey released by the Federation of Finnish Commerce on Monday.

According to the poll, 78 percent of respondents plan to spend about as much or more than they did last year.

A total of 2,200 Finnish consumers took part in the poll.

"It is surprising that the grim economic news have not had a greater impact on consumers' plans," said the Federation's chief economist, Jaana Kurjenoja.

"However there has been a slight increase in cautiousness among families with children compared with last year," Kurjenoja added.

The poll also says half of Christmas presents shoppers now make deal on the internet.
