Vietnam, Denmark pledge to boost strategic partnership

HANOI, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan held talks here on Monday with Danish Crown Prince Frederik, during which the two sides highly evaluated the establishment of strategic partnership between Vietnam and Demark in the areas of climate change, environment, energy and green growth during Frederik's visit to Vietnam.

At the talks, the Vietnamese leader welcomed Danish Crown Prince, saying his visit was of significance amid the celebration of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1971-2011).

Doan informed the Danish guest of his country's socio-economic development, saying the Vietnamese people will never forget wholehearted support and assistance that the Danish government and people gave to them in their fight for national independence and reunification in the past, and national construction at present.

The Vietnamese leader also thanked Denmark for its continual official development assistance (ODA) to Vietnam which helps the country in poverty reduction and fulfillment of the United Nations ' millennial development goals.

Danish Crown Prince spoke highly of achievements Vietnam has made over the years, saying he was impressed by changes taking place in the country that he witnessed during each of his visits to Vietnam.

Both sides expressed pleasure at improvment of bilateral ties in all fields, especially in economics, trade, investment, education and scientific research. They both agreed that the two sides should maintain regular exchange of high-ranking visits to help boost bilateral ties in the coming years.

After the talks, the two officials witnessed the signing of four cooperative agreements between the two countries, including water supply and rural environmental sanitary, sea preservation, establishment of quality control management and intellectual property services, and administrative reform program during 2012- 2015.

Frederik is visiting Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnamese Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan from Nov. 17-Dec. 1. He is accompanied by representatives of nearly 80 companies and over 30 universities and research institutes, manifesting Denmark's intention to further promote cooperation with Vietnam.
