ANKARA, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Sunday that Turkey and Arab League could not remain silent regarding developments in Syria where civilians were killed, Turkey's Anatolia news agency reported.

Turkey supported decisions and measures taken by the Arab League regarding Syria, Davutoglu was quoted as saying after the meeting foreign ministers of Arab League in the Egyptian capital of Cairo.

There was a full consensus between the Arab League and Turkey, he said.

As to what attitude Turkey would assume, if the league takes the matter to the UN, Davutoglu said Turkey would back decisions of the Arab League.

The Syrian issue was a common regional issue, said Davutoglu, adding that they were trying to prevent more bloodshed there, and there was sound cooperation between Turkey and the Arab League on the issue.

Davutoglu said Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan called ministers on the phone to discuss the matter after the Arab League's meeting, stating that the measures against Syria would be clear in the coming days.

"We hope that the Syrian government will comprehend our message and the issue will be solved," he said.
