Cabcharge, the provider of electronic payment for nearly 97 percent of Australian taxis, limousines and water taxis, has started accepting China UnionPay cards, according to a statement from UnionPay's South Pacific Office on Nov. 21.

Residents in Sydney and Perth can now use China UnionPay cards to pay taxi fares. China UnionPay is making active efforts to build itself into one of the world's leading credit card brands, such as Visa and MasterCard.
