US President Barack Obama Thursday reiterated his country's determination to consolidate its role in the Asia-Pacific, a day after Beijing questioned Washington's decision to expand its military presence in Australia.

"The US is a Pacific power, and we are here to stay," Obama said when addressing the Australian Parliament in Canberra, repeating the exact phrases he used at the APEC summit in Honolulu over the weekend.

"I have directed my national security team to make our presence and missions in the Asia-Pacific a top priority. As a result, reductions in US defense spending will not come at the expense of the Asia-Pacific," the US president said.

Obama acknowledged China's concerns over the growing US presence, saying, "We'll seek more opportunities for cooperation with Beijing, including greater communication between our militaries to promote understanding and avoid miscalculation."

The AP commented that this is an "unmistakable message" from the White House chief to Beijing on Washington's determination to counter a rising China.

In response, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Liu Weimin said Thursday, "We hold no objection to the development of regular relations between countries. But we hope they can consider others' interests, regional peace and stability before making any move."

The US has lost its way in the world long ago. The truth is; it has never had a way. It is more like a pitcher looking at the bullpen for directions. For too long, it has been hijacked by a few with vested interests. The change is coming. The world is on the verge whereby each and everyone on earth is at the cusp of taking back control of his/her own destiny for a better world. The Occupy Wall Street movement is the first step. The participants in the movement can now move to the next quantum level. Demand its own country why it blocked Palestine application for membership at the UN. Demand to know who blocked it. Demand to find out who was behind controlling the moves. Demand that the country vote and support Palestine entry to the UN. Make those harmful agents accountable by removing them from Congress and institutions and charge them on the ground of treason for bringing harm to the country and the world. The demand for truths and accountabilities can be applied to all wrongdoings in Wall Street, hegemony, FED, DOD, White House, State Department and all government machinery. That done and from now on, not a single bad hat can move.It is not states pitting against states any more. The motives of Yuan Shao using the name/army/state to be emperor, as was known by Liu Bei, cannot be allowed. Individuals like Obama or Gillard cannot take matters into their own hands, pretend to represent US or Australia, that will endanger people in the region. The people, Americans, Australians, Chinese, ASEANs and people all over the world demand the motives and who are behind the moves. It is a question of right and wrong. If it is wrong, Americans and Australians are to demand their respective countries to stop this harmful arrangement. It is then that the people in the world has stood up for a better world and for themselves.China can take the lead in inculcating what is good and what is bad for the world for all mankind through its own doings and disseminating facts and truths through the modern media. This is the only way forward from now on. Is China coming forward to lead a stable, peaceful and sustainable world?

What is happening is not a surprise. Indeed, it should be expected from the USA and Western nations. This should give the PLA an added impetus (if not duty to China) to match (yes, to match)the military might of the USA. Do not wait for China to be pushed. For then, it will be too late.

US is one of foreign powers far away from Asia, whereas China is Asian neighbor. US plan is a threat to China"s peaceful rise despite US already has military presences and bases in Australia and Pacific nations, Philippines, Japan, Korea and some ASEAN nations. To contain China"s rise, US has to depend on China"s neighbors to do the jobs, like import more US military products and establish more allies to ease US huge debts and high jobless rate at home, etc. US allies, military bases, imports of high tech military products from US, etc would not make ASEAN and Pacific nations safer but create tensions and more dangerous detrimental to the peace and security of Asia and the world!

After over 200 years of "rape, rob, and pillage", it does not come as a surprise that Asia and Indonesia are on their list . . . again. US "acquisition" in the Pacific goes back over 150 years, and includes Hawaii, Samoa, the Philippines, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea . . . . The fact that some of those countries have regained a modicum of "sovereignty" is not because the US has voluntarily relinquished its power over their resources.I am sure that undermining China is high on their "wish list". The best strategy is to remember history.
