Six people killed in separate incidents across Syria

DAMASCUS, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Three explosives experts were killed Friday as they were trying to dismantle an explosive device planted in the Damascus suburb of Douma, the official SANA news agency reported.

Quoting a police source, Sana said the experts removed the explosive device set to blow near a mosque in Douma, adding that the device went off killing three of them.

The device was concealed in an iron tube, said Sana, adding that another device weighs 12 kilograms was dismantled in southern Daraa province.

In a separate incident, "armed men" opened fire at law- enforcement members and civilians at Kafr Zaita area in central Hama province, killing three civilians and injuring a number of the law forces.

Meanwhile, about 11 people were killed in clashes with security forces as protests renewed on Friday in several Syrian cities, the pan-Arab al-Jazeera cited activists group as saying.

Syria's state-TV, however, denied al-Jazeera's reports as " untrue," citing its reporters in several Syrian cities as saying that life in these cities is normal.

Syria has been wracked by six-month-old unrest that it blames on foreign conspiracy and foreign thugs. A recent UN tally put the number of the civilians who were gunned down by security forces during the past six months at 2,700.

Syrian president's political and media adviser, Buthayna Shaaban, has recently put the number of army officers and law- enforcement troops who were killed since the eruption of protest in Syria in mid March at 800.
