Malaysia warns citizens against travel to Yemen

13:21, September 26, 2011

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia on Sunday warned its citizens against travel to Yemen until the security situation there returns to normal.

The foreign ministry said in a statement that it had advised Malaysians to defer their travel plans to Yemen and those who are already in Yemen to register with the Malaysian embassy.

The ministry also urged Malaysians studying or working in the country to return home voluntarily.

The warnings came following clashes between the pro-democracy protesters and the government security forces in Yemen.
