STONE TOWN, Zanzibar Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Police in Zanzibar, the semi-autonomous region off Tanzania coast, has launched efforts to search for the captain of the ferry that capsized and left 197 people dead last weekend.

"We ask the public to inform the police if they have any information of where he is as the police need him for questioning in connection with the accident," said Zanzibar Commissioner of Police Mussa Ali Mussa in a statement.

He identified the captain as Said Abdulla Kinyanyite, a resident of Nzasa Mbagala, Temeke District in Dar re Salaam.

No one has seen the captain of the overloaded ferry MV Spice Islander since it capsized and sank with over 800 passengers aboard in the deep sea on its way to Pemba, a sister island of Zanzibar.

The police should make a similar announcement and ask the public to help find people responsible for burning bars. Unless the police are also involved...
