NIAMEY, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- A large military convoy from Libya had arrived in northern Nigerien city Agadez, media reports said on Tuesday.

The covoy arrived late Monday, but it remains unclear which officials are in the vehicles, according to the reports.

Earlier on Monday, local media reported that Mansour Dhao, the chief of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's security brigades, had entered Niger.

The reports, citing Nigerien officials, said the senior security official and several others had crossed into Niger on Sunday.

Libyan rebels had demanded Gaddafi loyalists surrender within a week.

On Saturday, National Transitional Council (NTC) chief Mustafa Abdel Jalil told a press conference in Benghazi that the NTC would give one week to pro-Gaddafi forces in Sirte, Bani Walid and other cities to lay down their arms. He said the NTC forces are capable of deploying troops in any city or town and they would use military means after "the end of this extension."

Last Thursday, Gaddafi vowed in a TV audio message not to surrender and urged his loyalists to continue resistance to the rebellion.
