BAGHDAD, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Two policemen were killed and seven wounded in separate gunfire and bomb attacks in Iraq on Sunday, the police said.

In Iraq's eastern province of Diyala, two policemen were killed when gunmen opened fire on their car in the city of Jalawlaa, some 130 km northeast of Baghdad, a source from the provincial operations command told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

In a separate incident, a roadside bomb went off near a civilian car carrying a member of Kurdish security, named Peshmerga, in Jalawlaa, seriously wounding him, the source said.

The ethnically-mixed city of Jalawlaa is part of disputed areas claimed both by the semi-autonomous region of Kurdistan and Baghdad central government.

Also in the province, gunmen wounded a woman in the town of al- Othmaniyah, southwest of Diyala's provincial capital city of Baquba, some 65 km northeast of Baghdad, the source added.

In Baghdad, three people were wounded in two roadside bomb attacks in Baghdad's southeastern district of Zaafaraniyah and Shula district in northwestern the capital, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Elsewhere, an Iraqi army officer and a soldier were wounded when a booby-trapped bike detonated near their patrol in the city of Tuz Khurmato, some 170 km north of Baghdad, a local police source said.

Violence and sporadic attacks remain common across Iraq despite the dramatic decrease of violence over the past few years.
