Typhoon Nanmadol kills at least 6 in Philippines

10:51, August 28, 2011

MANILA, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Typhoon Nanmadol continued to pound the Philippines, leaving at least six people dead, according to officials.

Benito Ramos, executive director of the National Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council, said the deads came from Pangasinan province, Baguio City and Catanduanes province.

Two children were buried alive when a landslide hit San Fabian, Pangasinan.

A dump facility collapsed in Baguio City, killing two and injuring two others.

A barrack in a small-scale mining site in Baguio City caved in, killing a 32-year old miner who was seeking shelter.

Residents of Catanduanes found the body of a 68-year old fisherman who was earlier reported missing.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Nanmadol weakened as it continued to move northwestward slowly.
