6.3-magnitude quake hits Vanuatu Islands

HONG KONG, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale hit Vanuatu Islands at 07:06 HK time Thursday ( 2346 GMT Wednesday), the Hong Kong Observatory said.

The epicenter was initially determined to be at 18.1 degrees south latitude and 167.6 degrees east longitude.
