Hamas expressed hopes that the Libyans could mass potentials to build up a modern society, where democracy, freedom, independent national decisions are prevailing and foreign intervention is rejected, said a statement obtained by Xinhua.

Earlier, the Libyan embassy in Damascus announced Monday its " absolute support" to the February 17 revolution, and it's joining of the National Transitional Council.

Several Arab and foreign countries have announced their recognition of the NTC on Monday, as opposition forces entered into the heart of Tripoli to search for the whereabouts of embattled leader Muammar Gaddafi.
