6.0-magnitude quake hits Papua New Guinea -- HK Observatory

HONG KONG, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale jolted New Britain Region, Papua New Guinea at 1304 GMT on Sunday, the Hong Kong Observatory said.

The epicenter was initially determined to be near 5.7 degrees south latitude and 151.1 degrees east longitude, about 600 kilometers northeast of Port Moresby.
