Two Gaza groups reject efforts to restore ceasefire with Israel

14:43, August 21, 2011

GAZA, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Two Palestinian militant groups on Saturday rejected efforts to restore ceasefire with Israel.

The Popular Resistance Committees (PRC), which lost their leader, three deputies and several militants in Israeli raids in Gaza since Thursday, said that rockets will continue falling on Israel.

"We cannot talk about peace under the Israeli military escalation," said Abu Mujahed, a spokesman for the PRC.

The Islamic Jihad movement also rejected to abide by ceasefire. "The Palestinian resistance will take its right and will force ( Israel) to pay a high price," said Abu Ahmad, a spokesman for the armed wing of the movement.

An Islamic Jihad member was killed late Friday in an Israeli airstrike targeted his motorbike in Gaza City. A five-year-old boy and a civilian were also killed in that attack.

The Israeli bombings killed at least 14 Palestinians so far. Israel said that activists from Gaza have taken part in planning Thursday's attacks in the Red Sea resort of Eilat, in which eight Israelis were killed.

Hamas, the Islamic movement which controls Gaza, denied any involvement of Gaza people in Eilat attacks.
