CAIRO, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- One Chinese worker died and two others were injured after their speeding car overturned on the Cairo-Alexandria road, a Chinese company told Xinhua on Friday.
The accident happened at local time 16:30 (1430 GMT) Thursday when their car suddenly overturned itself on the road in an attempt to overtake other vehicles, said the source of the Chinese company.
One of the injured was still under medical observation in a hospital in Cairo while the other has been discharged. Chinese embassy officials in Cairo visited the injured person in hospital. The company was handling the aftermath of the incident. The car was driven by an Egyptian man. According to the injured, the car ran at a speed of about 140 to 150 km per hour at the time of overturn.
Traffic accidents are common in Egypt, partly due to over-speed and poor road conditions. Road accidents kill more than 6,000 people every year in the country.
