The Central Election Commission registered 39 Senate candidates, including 14 nominated by local representative bodies and 25 self-nominated ones.

In Kazakhstan, Senate terms last six years. Local rotation elections are held every three years.

The Senate has 47 members, 32 of whom are elected by electoral colleges from each of the 14 regions and the two municipalities of Astana and Almaty and 15 are appointed by the president.

Preliminary results of the senatorial elections will be announced later Friday. The final results will be announced Monday.
