Malaysia confirms order for 32 Indonesian-made armored vehicles

JAKARTA, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro said that Malaysia had confirmed its order for 32 armored vehicles, codenamed Anoa, made by Indonesian defense industry, local media reported here on Tuesday.

"So, the sale of 32 armored vehicles has been conducted. The contract had already been set," the minister was quoted by the largest news portal the as saying.

Earlier reports said that Malaysia's order for the Indonesian armored vehicles worth a total of 80 million U.S. dollars.

Indonesia's Anoa armored vehicles are also used by the United Nation's peacekeeping forces deployed in several conflict areas.

The Anoa armored vehicle is fitted with 320 horsepower 7,000 cc engines supplied by Mercedes Benz and Renault.
