KATHMANDU, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Nepali Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal is going to tender his resignation to President Ram Baran Yadav Sunday evening, the prime minister's press advisor Surya Thapa said.

"While giving concluding remarks to the party's (the Communist Party Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) central committee meeting, the prime minister informed that he is going to tender his resignation to the president and he would address the parliament meeting on Monday," Thapa said.

The CPN-UML chairman who is leading the coalition government told his party's Central Committee meeting Sunday afternoon that he would step down from the government and address the House Monday to shed light on why the peace process and the constitution- drafting have faltered.

The Prime Minister had announced to quit if remarkable progress on peace process could not be made by August 13.
