PYONGYANG, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said on Wednesday that it did not fire shots to the disputed western sea border and the sound of " shelling" was actually explosions for construction work, the official news agency KCNA reported on Thursday.

According to the KCNA, the head of the DPRK delegation for the north-south military talks told the KCNA that the north launched normal explosions for construction work at South Hwanghae province near "the five islands of the West Sea" on Wednesday.

That the S. Korean military faked that the north fired shots and tried to take military counter-measure was an anti-DPRK plot aimed at destroying the recent atmosphere for dialogue on Korean Peninsula and the surrounding area and deteriorating the north- south relations to the state of confrontation and conflict, said the head of the DPRK delegation.
