China will put on its aerospace agenda this year the launch of 15 rockets, 17 satellites and 1 spacecraft, revealed Huang Qiang, the Secretary General of the National Defense's Scientific and Technological Commission. He spoke at a news briefing during the 2008 National Defense Scientific and Technological Work Conference on January 7.

Huang also revealed that three nuclear power projects in Ningde, and Fuqing, Fujian Province; and Yangjiang, Guangdong Province, will break ground this year.

It has also been revealed that China's civilian ship tops the world in popularity, and has for the first time overtaken South Korea and spearheaded the industry by attracting more orders in 2007.

According to Huang, the first LNG-RV (Regasification vessel) has passed its testing phase and will be launched into operation soon.

A share-holding system will also serve in the reform of military industries, with operations management strengthened in the process and particular industries treated accordingly. Huang mentioned that listed companies catering for military supplies will undergo rigorous inspection.
