Deng Pufang, president of the China Disabled Persons Federation (CDPF), met on Wednesday with visiting Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Ivan Vasyunyk, calling for closer cooperation on work for the disabled in both countries.
Deng, also vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and executive president of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG), welcomed Vasyunyk, who attended the opening ceremony and other events at the Games.
The Beijing Paralympic Games, scheduled to open on Sept. 6, would be a grand event for disabled people cross the world, and the Chinese and Ukrainian teams would hopefully achieve good results, Deng said.
Vasyunyk said the Ukrainian people expected the opening of the Beijing Paralympic Games to be as successful as the opening of the Olympics.
The two vowed to share experiences and strengthen cooperation on work for the disabled.
